Isha Ambani doesn’t just attend the Met Gala—she curates moments of fashion history. For the 2025 edition of the ball, themed “Tailored for You,” Ambani delivered one of the most arresting looks of the night in a meticulously hand-embroidered couture ensemble by Indian designer Anamika Khanna. But it was a dazzling encounter with jewellery influencer Julia Chafe that turned heads and lit up timelines.
When Chafe caught up with Ambani on the red carpet to ask about her jewellery, the Reliance heiress revealed that her showstopping diamond pieces—most notably a monumental necklace and vintage brooch—were straight from her mother Nita Ambani’s personal collection. “They’re all hers,” Ambani shared with a smile, giving the world a glimpse into one of India’s most coveted jewellery vaults.
The centerpiece necklace channeled old-world opulence, taking inspiration from the legendary Cartier Toussaint, originally commissioned in 1931 for the Maharaja of Nawanagar to showcase the Queen of Holland diamond. While the original is believed to be lost, the Ambani version carried its legacy forward in a blaze of brilliance: two cascading rows of diamonds anchored by three luminous links and a dramatic pendant. The brooch affixed to her tailored trousers added a layer of high-dandy detailing—an elegant nod to this year’s exhibit Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, Ambani wore a white embroidered corset over sharply tailored black trousers and a dramatic cape—crafted from handwoven checkered fabric sourced from Reliance’s own Swadesh handloom store. The ensemble reportedly took over 20,000 hours to embroider and was completed just two days before the event.
Her signature braid, nude lips, and minimal bronzed glow let the garment—and the gems—do all the talking. A sleek hat topped off the androgynous-glam aesthetic, perfectly in line with the night’s Black dandyism theme.
Ambani, who made her Met Gala debut in 2017, has quietly become one of the event’s most consistent sartorial forces, frequently spotlighting Indian design talent on a global stage. This year, she was joined by a powerful Indian contingent, including Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kiara Advani, Diljit Dosanjh, and Natasha Poonawalla.
